Dr. Rameez Mohomad Yahaya, Consul General of Malaysia to Melbourne, is among 13 people to be conferred the honour of the title “Darjah Seri Sirajuddin Perlis” (SSP) in conjunction with Raja of Perlis’ 70th birthday yesterday.
Being one of the 207 people worldwide to be honoured a title by Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, Dr. Rameez now carries the title “SSP”.
Dr. Rameez is the first Consul General of Malaysia in Melbourne. He has been serving the Malaysian community in Melbourne since mid-2011. His primary motto is to serve, to assist, and to engage with the Malaysian community and be a bridge between the Malaysian and the Australian community.
Among others who were honoured yesterday were AIROD Sdn Bhd president Tan Sri Ahmad Johan and director-general of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who received the title “Datuk Seri”. Dr. Juanda Jaya, Mufti of Perlis, received the title “Datuk Murshid DiRaja”. He came to Melbourne in September last year and gave a talk on ‘Surviving in the western country as a Muslim’, which enlightened both Muslim and non-Muslim listeners in the room.
A few sources told JOM that Dr. Rameez will be receiving a Dato’ title in near future.
